I have a horrible earache. I've tried steam and Naproxen which was prescribed for migraines; neither have worked. Any other suggestions?
1st-Jan-2010 07:42 pm - water
Im new here and always looking for new friends! :)

This is an excerpt from an article. I have cross posted it, I hope that that is allowed...

[...]

Dehydration increases body fat! Every thing we eat our body tries to convert to glucose, it is the only fuel for our brain. Water contributes to energy storage along with glycogen. The more dehydrated you are, the more glucose remains in your bloodstream and will be stored as FAT. When your body is dehydrated it pulls water from the cells to hydrate the body. This includes your FAT cells. When your Fat cells are dehydrated your body will not use that fat for energy, instead it will use whatever fuel is readily available in the body.

So if you put in hours at the gym and aren't seeing much of a change it could be that your actually really dehydrated and no amount of activity will allow your body to use its excess fat for energy.

Not only that, but it is our kidneys job to filter toxins, waste, water and salt out of the blood stream and our livers duty to metabolize stored fat into energy. The liver however, CAN NOT WORK if the kidneys are not functioning properly. The liver must work harder and thus, metabolizes less fat.

It is recommended to drink 8 glasses of water a day. This is not enough water at all. We need water to function properly and if you're not peeing clearly and guzzlin the stuff throughout the day than you need to be drinking more.

21st-Dec-2009 11:14 am - Hada's Honey Log
shifty eyed dog, The Simpsons
Hi! I'm making a log about honey. I want to see what it can do for my skin, specially my acne: Hada's Honey Log Wish me luck!
What?
A new beginners course (Shoden / Reiki 1) for both complete beginners
as well as experiences practitioners for repetition / build on experience.

Where?
This is a 6 week Distance class at http://ilmar.se

What's the style / Focus?
This style is primarily built upon Hawayo Takata's teaching of Usui Shiki Ryoho,
with a few other elements integrated. My classes however all focus exclusively
on the Japanese teachings. There will be no modern or new age add-ons such
as chakras, guides and such being taught. Instead a simple, down to earth,
developing and easy to use reiki will be taught, as closely resembling to that
which Usui-Sensei taught during his lifetime.

How long is this course?
The course is six weeks long, with weekly reading, meditation and after the
attunement - healing assignments. How much time you give everything and
on what days to practice it, is entirely up to you.

What is included?
Included in the Course is a Japanese looking Certificate that can be printed
in A4 or A3 format, high resolution. Also included is a handbook for this
level which covers everything taught during the class.

Will i have access to fellow students and teachers?
YES! Each week includes discussions and journaling exercises which means
that we will all have the option to discuss and interact with fellow students
and with the teacher (me). You will also have constant available contact
with me through Email as well as MSN or AIM, even after finished course.

What does it cost?
The cost for this course is $50, which is paid through PayPal.

How do i join?
Sign up at http://ilmar.se which is the site where the class will be held.
Pay the Course Fee to:

sontof@ilmar.se

IMPORTANT:

You *must* use your paypal email adress when registering at http://ilmar.se When you pay the course fee, i will use the email you used for paypal, to search for your account on ilmar.se and grant you access to the classroom.

The class begins on November 10th, so please check back then.

Please observe that there's no refund, so be certain you wish to take this class before you pay.

You're in Reiki,

Erik

19th-Oct-2009 11:48 am - Lavendar for Headaches
TVD
I'm a constant headache sufferer who gets seasonal migraines (and I'm on Midrin for them). Sometimes they get so bad nothing works and I even use that head-on stuff and just lay in bed for sometimes two days, in dark/silence. I'm sure many of you can relate...and that sucks. Anyway, one thing that helps me is the scent of lavender. It's worth a try if you are looking for a homeopathic helper. I wrote about it here. But anyway, I use a lavender/flax seed satchel and put it on my forehead and it eases the tension a little. It's not an ultimate cure but it does help me. I hope this might help someone else.

Cross posted to the natural living site as well. Rest of the article HERE: http://www.prisonplanet.com/ron-paul-warns-swine-flu-scare-will-be-used-as-precedent-for-more-big-government.html
along w/ the original 70's gov promo video encouraging people to take the vaccine - which ultimately paralyzed several hundred people.
-----------

“Step back and think for a minute before rushing and panicking” is the message coming from Texas Congressman Ron Paul who has warned that the swine flu scare will once again be used as a precedent for big government intrusion.

“It makes me think back to 1976, the first year I served in the Congress,” Paul has said in a video update. “We had a vote on the swine flu. Back then there was panic, they said it was going to sweep the nation and they rapidly came up with some flu shots and the government was going to inoculate everybody and save the world from this disaster.”

“It turned out that our instincts were correct.” the Congressman, also a medical physician, commented. “Not only did we think that the government should be involved in making medical decisions… but the flu came, the flu went and one person died, except for those individuals that died from getting the flu vaccine.”

Earlier this week we reported on the events of 1976, highlighting the fact that this last significant outbreak of swine flu in the U.S. originated at the army base at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

President Gerald Ford and then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (a man who has long standing intimate ties with the big pharma companies that have and will reap millions in profits from these scares) instituted a mass nationwide vaccination program. More than 40 million people were vaccinated. However, the program was stopped short after over 500 cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome, a severe paralyzing nerve disease, were reported. Officially 30 people died as a direct result of the vaccinations, though the real figure is generally thought to have been much higher.

At the time Congressman Ron Paul was one of only two representatives to vote down the vaccination program. His comments were recorded in the book Swine Flu Expose, by Eleanora I. McBean, Ph.D., N.D.

Paul described the move as “a shocking misuse of funds …and an evil political maneuver”, “blatant advertising efforts to panic the people into taking Swine Flu shots will fail.” Paul said.

Other - since I'm up late calling Asia job hunting, I listen to George Noory on Coast to Coast AM. Last Night he had all the Swine Flu experts - biologists to alternative media. They succinctly think this is bioengineering to rid us of Hispanic folks and a tactic to divert attention from what's really going on. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but given history repeating itself, will be it is a diversion ploy and will NOT be taking anything other than more vitamins - EVEN when traveling via plane to Asia in 2 1/2 weeks.

Anybody know what I can do with dried jasmine flowers?
glasses
Hi folks

Ive just had a little google search but thought id ask here as well, im just wondering if anyone has any tried and true natural remedies for whatever it is that eats leaves on veges and herbs?

Sounds like crushed garlic in water sprayed on could be a goer? Or peppermint oil in water?

Theres no snails around that I can see so Im guessing its a really small little fly/bug that I can sometimes see in the air.

Oh and I live in Melbourne, Australia, so its spring here, if that is of any assistance!

Any ideas/tips?

Thanks heaps.

Cheers,

Ash
15th-Oct-2008 11:28 am - Toothpaste (Stevia)
I use Stevia as toothpaste.

My husband and I have separate jars.  He prefers baking soda, but it  irritates my gums and causes my lips to swell and burn when brushing with it.

I used to use Tom's of Maine (Silly Strawberry), but I use a lot of toothpaste and wanted to use something which I wouldn't run out of all the time and could possibly, in the long run, be cheaper.

I was musing, something about wouldn't it be great if we could brush with honey?  That would taste great, but  would, alas, be defeating the purpose.  Well, in our house, we only use for sweeteners honey and...THEN IT HIT ME!  Stevia!  That's it!  By Jove, I'll try it!  (I'm always experimenting.)

Admittedly, Stevia is an acquired taste, but I like it.  Husband doesn't, hence two jars.

Trader Joe's.  100% Pure Stevia (I love things with 1 ingredient).
1,120 servings (fewer for me, still cheaper than "toothpaste").
                          Calorie free.
                          Net weight 1 oz.(28.35g).

Fine powder.  Low abrasion.  Fluoride free.  Won't make you sick if you swallow some.  Not sticky.

Simple:  Dip toothbrush in powder or add water and make paste, if preferred, and brush.
Afterward, a spritz of peppermint oil and water for that "minty clean" feeling.

At last!  A 100% naturally "sweet" toothpaste!
